Version 4 (Preview) - 4.00A09

This is a preview of V4 which will work with your V3 Registration Code.
(This allows you to preview the features of V4 before it becomes available)

We do not expect to release Version 4 until late 2010/early 2011. As always we will have a generous upgrade discount for current Version 3 users.

Starting with 4.00A06, you can now have both V3 and V4 installed.

This download will stop working the end of June 2010 (Check back before then for an update with an extension to the expiration)

Additional changes for the native CE 5.0 build
Added "Info" to the "Tools", "Device" menu (on device). This will display the platform name and CE Version.
Fix to how dialogs are positioned on the tabbed displays for Windows Mobile 6.5.3 devices.
Extended beta expiration to the end of June 2010

Support for "Native" Windows CE 5.0 devices. (But untested on real device)
Removed support for Object Store (memory) databases with Pocket PC 2003 devices.
Removed 'BMP' option for images.
Fixed issue where notes greater than 31983 characters in size may have been imported incorrectly.
Fixed issue with target location drop down list on synchronization screen with 64-bit Vista.

Version 4 now totally separate from V3. (Both V3 and V4 can be installed at the same time)
Better support for 480x800, 800x480, 240x400 and 400x240 devices.
Installer messages changed if MDAC (Microsoft Access Jet driver) is not available to indicate that direct Legacy or Genbox won't work, but Pocket Genealogist will.
Eliminated Palm-size, PocketPC, PocketPC 2002 and HPC versions.
Speed improvement when processing orphaned databases.
Version 4 PAF/FTM Add-on will need to be installed as well if you are doing direct PAF or FTM imports. (Contact NHS for the download if purchased the Add-on and want to use it with v4)

Support for upcoming Legacy 7.4 (7J) release.
Pocket Genealogist now uses SQLite instead of Microsoft Access for its internal database. Version 4 and Version 3 databases will no longer be interchangeable (you won't see databases created with V3 or vice Versa - applicable to desktop side of Pocket Genealogist only)

Device: The "Edit", "View" menu item will now show a check mark next to the view that is currently selected.
Device: (Advanced) Better error checking when using the "External Viewer" with images.
Desktop/Device: Norwegian and Danish language updated.
Desktop: Added "Original Image" as an option for image sizing on the "Advanced Options" screen. (But these are likely to change in the future if we rework image import/syncing)
Device: (Advanced) Fix to multimedia tab to properly show image preview if using d-pad to switch between list entries vs. stylus.

Added new "view", '3-gen with Photos'. (Advanced only)
The "Tools", "Go To", screen now shows a thumbnail of the individual (preferred image). (Advanced only)
The multimedia tab will now show thumbnails for the item selected.
On device for Multimedia "External Viewer" function, change so if no program is associated with a file extension, an error message will be displayed.
Added a check mark next to the "Edit", "View" menu item that is currently active.
Danish and Norwegian update.

Reworked Internet (Check for Update) functions.
Check for Update "Download" button now prompts for which executable you wish to download then downloads and prompts for installation.
RootsMagic Customize screen fix. (Wasn't properly showing which Multimedia options were selected)
Norwegian and Swedish Update.

First build for Version 4 which will temporarily allow the use of Version 3 registration codes.
Change to importation of Multimedia to allow for selection of "Images" and "PDF" files. If you select Multimedia but neither "Images" or "PDF", you'll still get the references to those types on the device but just no images or PDF files. Viewing of PDF files on the device are done via an external PDF viewer. (Which may or may not be available on all operating system versions) Also, PDF files are transferred with no modification (unlike images which are compressed and resized) so care must be taken with regards to space on the device.
Display of "Object" tab for multimedia and PDF files show a PDF iconic graphic. A single tap on the graphic will invoke the external viewer for that PDF.
